Description
Point Multiplex Module, XRM - Multiplex Relay Momentary, 8 Binary Inputs / 8 Momentary Relay Outputs. The Multiplex Relay Momentary (XRM) is a module that connects points to the system and resides in the Network Control Unit (NCU) or Network Expansion Unit (NEU). It monitors eight binary inputs (voltage, dry contact, or pulse) and executes output commands through eight pairs of momentary relays, each with a set of Form A and Form C contacts. Auto/Manual local override switches are provided for each of the outputs. The XRM reports input changes-of-state and Auto/Manual switch settings to the NCU for processing. LEDs on the module face display the status for each input and Auto/Manual switch, and the commanded condition for each output. The XRM connects binary input/output points to the NCU/NEU. The inputs may be any combination of these points: dry contact, up to 10 Hz frequency, and up to 120 VAC or VDC. It also executes Network Control Module commands to momentary relay switches, which control miscellaneous devices. When residing in or remote to an NCU, the XRM serves to increase the point capacity of the NCU. If the points are clustered at a distant location, the XRM additionally provides an economical way to connect them to the NCU over the N2 Bus without having to hardwire each I/O separately to the NCU. Typically, XRMs control equipment requiring 3-wire control circuits, such as motors, pumps, and pulse-on/pulse-off lighting contactors. The starter circuits de-energize in the event of a power failure; upon power restoration the equipment does not immediately restart and cause a surge in demand. The user instead performs a safe and orderly restarting with software commands via the NCU.
